About the event
Description:
Join us for 45 minutes of slow and mindful yoga on a Sunday evening! Sessions will focus on connecting with what’s going on in our bodies (interoception), and our breath.
Interoception is linked to being able to recognise the relationship between bodily sensation and emotional states, and studies have shown that individuals with BFRBs report lower abilities to recognise this relationship. This can lead to a misinterpretation of bodily sensations as purely physical, leading to an urge to pick or pull. Developing improved interoceptive attention through attending to the breath has been shown to be helpful to support processing and coping with emotions.
Jane will invite you to engage in dynamic and flowing movements at a slow and gentle pace, and offer prompts to notice your body and breath. We will finish with the opportunity to rest in a comfortable position, and afterwards the space will be open to share any thoughts or questions.
About Jane:
Since gaining her 200 hour yoga teaching qualification in 2019, Jane has taught online for MIND and NHS mental health in-patients, as well as in person for toddlers and their parents! She is passionate about teaching yoga for mental health, having used yoga as her own tool for supporting her own mental health and BFRBs. Her ethos is to make her yoga classes as accessible as possible, she encourages everyone to arrive ‘as they are’ to each and every class, and she will always do my best to meet you there.
