We want to research how many young people in England are affected by BFRBs
Researchers at the University of Oxford want to add questions about Body Focused Repetitive Behaviours (BFRBs) into a survey of hundreds-of-thousands of young people and children in schools across the UK. Currently, we don't have good information about how many children are struggling with BFRBs like hair-pulling, skin-picking, nail-biting etc.
We are hoping that by including questions about BFRBs into this survey, we will be able to get a better understanding of how many young people in England are affected by these disorders. In the future, this finding may lead to more research into BFRBs as funders will have evidence of the effects of these disorders on young people, and to increased awareness and understanding by clinicians.
We would love your feedback (good or bad) on potential questions that could be included in the study. You can participate here: https://psychiatryoxford.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eKFECxa2xpmWYfA.
